Maternity Leave

Maternity matters

We provide guidance and professional advice for maternity protection at work. In Germany the "Mutterschaftsgesetz MuSchG" is the legal basis for the occupational risk assessment and the protective measurements.

During the SARS-CoV-2 pandemic it is best practice that pregnant employees should be offered the opportunity of home working. As a result contact with infectious people, including (SARS-CoV-2 infections) can be avoided.

The exposure assessment of potential hazards for pregnancy needs to be performed for all work places by the employer. Hazardous substances, biological agents and thermal or electrical hazards, workplace environment etc. must be considered.

Maternity protection for pregnant or breastfeeding women is a basic requirement of occupational health and safety risk assessment.
